Waimarama Community Gardens are public organic gardens situated in The Brook Valley, Nelson. We are open year-round. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the Gardens, learn more about organic horticulture and sustainable living through working bees, demonstrations and workshops. Garden plots occasionally become available for lease to community groups. Seedlings, plants, liquid fertiliser and horse manure are available at our kiosk. We sometimes have spray-free straw available for sale - please contact us to find out more.
We are located in Upper Brook Street on Andrews Farm Reserve. We are signposted at the intersection with Brook Street: look for the blue sign at the intersection with Tantragee Road.
There are no staff at the Gardens and everything is run by volunteers. You are welcome to visit the Gardens anytime, and regular working bees are held on Fridays from 4pm (in summer) and Sundays from 2pm (in winter). A work session also takes place on Wednesday mornings, from 10am, which you are welcome to join. Please contact us if you would like more information.
